Dear Margaret, still one hour to go while you are 69 :-) I wish you a joyful day with all your family and am glad and thankful that whatever internerlink it once has been, has brought me to you: Margaret, the magnet :-)
Thank you for these wonderful messages Margaret! Sending heaps of best wishes for your 70th tomorrow. Have a fabulous celebration with your family. I’d love to be in Carrick on Suir to savour the Shakespeare surprises. I can imagine each beautiful venue in my mind. Welcome to the 70’s I agree; lift weights, use Vagifem and journal in Weather Report 👍
This post made me cry, Margaret....in a good way. Your writing is sublime, and your attitude toward life, family, and beauty is glorious. Thank you for sharing your soul with us. We are better for it.
Happy Belated Birthday dear Margaret! I hope that I can enter new decades as gracefully as you do. You are an inspiration! Thank you for the additions to the “wear sunscreen” advice. I’m actually in the doctors office now (regular checkup) so I’ll be asking her about that.
I don't know many women who lead such a rich, active, and insightful life as you, Margaret! Here's to the next decade being even more...or less...depending on how you look at it! ;-)
Thank you for the link, and for reading that closely. Sei Shōnagon spent her days at court where performing sophistication was the whole game, and instead she just wrote down what she noticed — a list of moths, a list of things that pass quickly. That feels close to what a 90-day journal of "one thing I found beautiful" is doing too: less about capturing beauty than training the habit of turning toward it.
Thank you Tōan, you expressed it all so perfectly in the post I referenced. Yes, it is about training the habit of turning towards beauty. This training is a patient practice but if embraced it changes everything.
Happy Birthday! Also - how terrific your weather report book sounds a bit like my glimmers practice at the end of posts, they are surprisingly lovely to look back over :)
Happy Birthday Dear Margaret!!!
🤩🎉🥳
Your presence in my life is a gift to me! 💜
Thank you for this letter filled with generosity-of-many-flavors.
May your celebration bring you sweet delight!
Thank you so much Gail!
Happy Birthday Dear Margaret and may this new decade be rich in every way.
Thank you for sharing all these messages in bottles with us.
You are an Inspiration 💕
I am sure all you love in Heaven will celebrate you as well as 3 generations of your family on earth and your siblings tomorrow.
Enjoy every precious moment of day and as it's a new decade it is a year of celebration 🎉 for you xxxx
Thank you so much Eileen! Yes, new decades are something special.
A very happy birthday to you Margaret. This post was amazing. Thanks for the practical advice and heartfelt wisdom.
Thank you for reading Ellen and for your lovely wishes. I hope you’re doing well.
I’m doing OK, but recovering is slow. No writing in my Weather Report journal these days. But mobility is improving day by day.
It’s hard for you Ellen, but good to hear that your mobility is improving. Patience, patience… 🙏🏻

Happy Birthday, Margaret. Hope you get a skateboard.
That would be cool Peter! Or a surfboard? 😎
Or both.
Even better, you could go for the trilogy — skateboard, surfboard, and snowboard.

Thank you Tonya and good timing to be reading this post in such a setting I guess?
Yes- good timing! I was actually in the waiting room, but just sitting for awhile reading Substack felt a little luxurious.
Happy Happy Birthday, Margaret! You are a wonder, and I love these messages you share with us. Thank you.
I'm so grateful to know you. Have a happy celebration with your family. How wonderful. I'll be in touch. :)

Thank you Gillian! I agree, your Glimmers have a lot in common with my Weather Report practices. So simple, so good, so underrated.
