True. Not only is the Ukraine under attack, but obviously the United States is too, by a traitorous cowardly president and Putin. Questions are what will become of Ukraine, what will become of this democracy, and what will it all mean for the rest of the world?
Beautiful Margaret... love this, and the question/ reply it contains (and big Yes from me) 'if such things can be done in two tiny venues in a small rural town in Ireland it can be done (and is being done I know full well) anywhere and everywhere. Is it our work to create the conditions where empathy, fellow-feeling, love can be cultivated and then flourish? -
A beautiful piece Margaret. Thank you. I love your attention to detail. Yes I too agree with your final question. It is indeed our mission and purpose to awaken and recognise unity consciousness within humanity . To realise that every action, thought word is creating a drop into the ocean of consciousness. Reconciliation within ourselves first and then with others vital. To remember Love is the highest vibration of all.
“ Is it our work to create the conditions where empathy, fellow-feeling, love can be cultivated and then flourish? “
Lovely Margaret and such wisdom is helpful. It’s hard to imagine being in the US right now. But in the end, it’s the little acts that hold things together, and they hold us all together too. I sometimes imagine this rhizomatic action as spindly, fibrous love, like your cirrus clouds.
A beautiful post, Margaret. Yes, it is really difficult to know the world is watching us in the US, and we continue to spiral downward. A cousin in Spain WhatsApp'd me immediately following last week's Oval Office "show." For all our friends across the globe, it is bewildering. And for half of America, it's bewildering. Makes me want to apologize on behalf of my fellow Americans...constantly. Argh!
Well said Margaret! Heart broken in the States!
How else could you be Chris. The horror, the horror…

Thank you Clare - and I know you do much of this work already.
The horror! the horror! as Conrad said in _The Heart of Darkness_ : Trump, Vance and Musk define that darkness ...
Absolutely Mary, and thank you for reading. We need the arts and literature at this moment to give us the tools to process these dreadful times.

Thank you for reading Jackie - so many are dismayed and angry. Now I think we need to turn, in however small a way, to mending.
