Beautiful metaphor Margaret!

I’ve only fallen out of my kayak once. The water was shallow enough for me to hoist myself back in leg first.

Other areas of my life have found me in deep water… without a clear strategy.

Preparation is so helpful!

Learning in the calm of a pool.

This writing is a delight, Margaret. I’m riveted to the metaphor of being in the water and looking at the kayak wistfully, without much hope of pulling myself back in to continue crafting my story. It gave me a laugh to read the scene through your writing, when it is so impossibly relatable to my position in the water as well. And you prevailed! There’s hope in the air for this sailor to climb back aboard and set sail! Thank you for your inspiration!

Wonderful post Margaret. Deadlines are my friends too - they come with a special dose of energy to help us over the finish line. All the best in the competition!

Thanks for sharing this comparison, Margaret. I've always admired those who have the discipline to go out on the water, particularly since it's a practice that's becoming more rare these days given changing modes of transport. But I love the analogies you've drawn here.
